The gastronomic encyclopedia TasteAtlas has included it in its ranking of the 10 best cuisines in the world, and in 2021 a traditional Mexican dish was the best in the world according to this guide. UNESCO also recognized Mexican gastronomy as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2015.
